The list of green, orange and red countries has been updated. Mauritius, which was classified as “scarlet red”, has once again passed “red”. the decree n ° 2021-1687 of December 17, 2021 modifying decree n ° 2021-699 of June 1, 2021 prescribing the general measures necessary for the management of the exit from the health crisis was published in the Official Journal.

As of now June 9, 2021, trips are governed by 3 colors according to the circulation of the virus in the destinations concerned. The list of countries was modified on December 8, 2021.
Countries / territories classified in green are the countries in which no active circulation of the virus is observed and no variants of concern have been identified.
The complete list of green countries: the European space, to which are added Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Australia, Bahrain, Canada, the Comoros, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Japan, Kuwait, New Zealand, Qatar, Rwanda, Senegal, Taiwan, Uruguay and Vanuatu. For vaccinated travelers it will be necessary to prove proof of a complete vaccination.
For unvaccinated travelers, an RT-PCR or negative antigen test of less than 72 hours will be required to return to France before departure and less than 24 hours for the countries under surveillance: Cyprus, Spain, Greece, the Netherlands, Portugal and Malta) Germany, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia and Switzerland are placed under surveillance within the European area, with, for entry into France from this country, the requirement of a test of less than 24 hours for unvaccinated persons.

Orange country: active circulation of the virus in controlled proportions
“Orange” countries / territories are the areas in which an active circulation of the virus is observed in controlled proportions. It is all countries / territories not included in the lists of “green” and “red” countries / territories.
Travelers must produce a compelling reason to go to a country / territory in the orange zone unless they can justify a complete vaccination course. Attention, the United Kingdom although classified in orange, has a special status with very important restrictions.
Countries in red: circulation of the virus “active” with worrying variants
The “red” countries / territories are the countries in which active circulation of the virus is observed with the presence of worrying variants.
These are the following countries / territories: Afghanistan, Belarus, Botswana, Georgia, Malawi, Mauritius, Moldova, Montenegro, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia, Serbia, Suriname, Turkey, Ukraine, Zambia and Zimbabwe. the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs highly recommend “not to travel to countries / territories classified as” red “for health reasons”.
As with areas classified in orange, travelers must produce a compelling reason to travel to a country / territory in the red zone unless they can justify a complete vaccination course with a vaccine recognized by the European Medicines Agency : Pfizer / Comirnaty, Moderna, AstraZeneca / Vaxzevria / Covishield, Janssen. Countries in red: countries with a variant likely to present a risk of increased transmissibility or immune escape
Note that since December 1, 2021, the French government has created a new color to classify tourist destinations: scarlet red. Currently, more than 3 countries are classified in this category: South Africa, Eswatini and Lesotho.
