It’s a lot that seems hard to imagine: 400 million cubic meters of water. These masses move about every six hours near the Norwegian town of Bodø, when a truly spectacular natural wonder awakens here: the Saltstraumen. For comparison: a 50 meter long swimming pool that is 20 meters wide and 3 meters deep can hold 3000 cubic meters of water. And although the Norway whirlpool can be life-threatening, it is a tourist highlight today to get very close.
