Route with the 50 most beautiful attractions: The perfect road trip through Germany

Of course, our list of Germany’s most beautiful attractions cannot claim to be complete, nor should it. But there is something of everything: historic sites and famous buildings as well as nature parks, lakes and the Wadden Sea. They are so-called must-dos for everyone who wants to get to know Germany better.

The map shows all the sights we have selected and a suggestion on how best to “experience” them by car. The result is the perfect road trip through Germany that you can start at any point.

Plan the round trip through Germany

The entire route, which runs through all federal states, is almost 5500 kilometers long. You can probably do the road trip within two weeks – but of course you can take a lot more time.

After all, you should or should enjoy the one or the other or attraction a little longer: the Elbe Sandstone Mountains with their spectacular rock formations in Saxony, for example, or the famous chalk cliffs in the Jasmund National Park on Rügen. Neuschwanstein Castle should also be devoted to several hours, if only because of the long queue, just like the Bauhaus in Dessau or the medieval old town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

Parts of the road trip are also worthwhile!

Another tip: In the cities, don’t just look at the recommended sight, but preferably the whole city. Because logically, the capital has much more to offer than the Brandenburg Gate – but a visit to the famous building on Pariser Platz should still be a must during a stop in Berlin. Of course you don’t have to do the tour in one go – even individual sections of it are absolutely worthwhile.
