Two speed boats for a maximum of eleven passengers each will head for the North Sea island of Juist in the future. The mini ferries reach their destination from the north in around 45 minutes, as announced by the shipping company Norden-Frisia. The large ferries take about twice as long to travel. Thanks to their shallow draft, the speedboats can translate passengers even at low water levels – but they are not completely independent of the tide. The shipping company Töwerland Express has been offering 45-minute crossings to the East Frisian island since 2019.
Palatinate Forest Association wants to modernize hiking trails
The hiking trail network in the Palatinate Forest in the south of Rhineland-Palatinate is to be fundamentally revised. This is the intention of the Palatinate Forest Association, which has been looking after the widely ramified network of paths, some 5,000 kilometers in length, for almost 120 years. When the work can start is still open.
