Unfortunately the health situation due to the epidemic is deteriorating almost everywhere in France.
Even thousands of kilometers from Paris, Reunion Island faces a saturation of its intensive care services. To relieve congestion in hospitals, the decision was taken to carry out medical evacuations of patients to the metropolis.
After obtaining the technical and regulatory approvals required for such an unprecedented operation, Air Austral is now entrusted with the medical evacuation flights (EVASAN), operated under charter.
The 1st flight of this medical airlift will take place this Thursday, March 4, 2021 in the evening;
It will allow the transport of 4 stretchers between Reunion Island and Paris-CDG Airport.
Air Austral has already allowed the transport of the dedicated team of 15 people (first aiders and health personnel), as well as 800kgs of medical equipment, which arrived on Reunion Island this Wednesday, March 3, 2021.
