ECTAA endorses the Toulouse Declaration

The “Toulouse Declaration on Aviation Sustainability and Decarbonization” was presented today February 04, 2022 at the Toulouse Conference. The aviation summit is organized by the Presidency of the Council which is currently held by France. The statement recognizes the need for “immediate and adequate action to support and encourage the decarbonisation of aviation” and give thegoal of net zero carbon emissions by 2050. It is recognized that it isa complex challenge for an industry just recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic and trying to build resilience and sustainability while ensuring its competitiveness. It is noted that the declaration takes note of the growing expectations of civil society with regard to the decarbonisation of transport, and in particular aviation.

ECTAA is convinced that travel intermediaries play a central role in sustainability.

For ECTAA, making travel more sustainable is of utmost importance, and in November 2021 became a signatory to the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism.
The three pillars of sustainability – environmental, social and economic – must be taken into account.

ECTAA President Pawel Niewiadomski said: We are aware of the responsibility of our sector to work towards sustainable development. We will therefore continue to engage with all stakeholders in order to achieve even more things together, in the interest of all. »
